If the dark object can pass thru the light object,

are they circle and square or sphere and cube?

which is 'they' in this context...the object passing through or the object that is being passed through, or both?

a circle that's plane is changed can pass through that square.

(a) the circle can pass through the square, (b) the sphere can pass through the cube or (a) & (b)

in 2D the square can not pass through the circle... it will cut through instead, so you are correct to assume.
