Question

Come, dance with me, now

Child of two nations evolved

Combination, styles confused

Resulting in many songs

Some know me by a gesture

Though more formal as I am

Wearing well about your shape

One last clue, I end with this-

A game of balls and cups is

Not my name.

What about...

Instead of thinking of dances, what about genres?

Jazz could work for some clues. It fuses American and African elements (but that's not really two nations). There's "jazz hands" if that's the gesture you're looking for. It sounds a little like "jacks" - a game of balls and cups?

I'm stretching here.

A good thought, but no. Though genre (in general) is part of the right track, it probably won't get you to the answer. And definitely a different game. ^_^

Bolero

Bolero is a latin dance form that first originated in Spain. Spanish version is in 3/4 time. The Cuban form evolved separately & is in 2/4 (or sometimes 4/4).

Cuban bolero "fusions" with other rhythm, dance, & lyrical music types produced a wide range of music considered a type of bolero.

A bolero is also a type of "shrug" jacket or shawl, usually a more formal or tailored variety.

Balero (ball-AIR-oh), a ball-in-a-cup game, will sound similar to mispronounced bolero (bowl-AIR-oh).
