OK, so how did he get the answer 65,49? I am usually good at these, but I can't find the pattern. Explain, please??? Thank you!

OK, first let A=1, B=2, C=3, .... , Z=26. Then spell out the positive integers and add the values of the letters in each one.

So, ONE = O + N + E = 15 + 14 + 5 = 34,

and TWO = T + W + O = 20 + 23 + 15 = 58,

etc.

The ones Wolfgang asked for were SEVEN and EIGHT:

SEVEN = 19 + 5 + 22 + 5 + 14 = 65

EIGHT = 5 + 9 + 7 + 8 + 20 = 49

My post after Molly Mae's was a red herring: he had given 76 (11 more than mine) and 38 (11 less than mine).
