Create 3 squares, then divide each one to have 12 squares, which is divisible with 4.
Luckily this was enough to find a solution.

i tried to slice it but when my moniter went dark, the idea came to me to print it off on a piece of paper, i just hooked up the new moniter

Another solution...
if starting at top each of the three squares discussed is labeled
A B
C D E
F G H

Then draw three lines
F to D
F to B
F to E

Stack your four identical shapes... LOL

Additionally, a diagonal drawn from the topmost right corner and the rightmost top corner will yield four L's of equal size.
