Now that I call thinking inside and outside the box, but you would have to use the ninth for the top - and that still leaves the bottom ?????

Unless onw accepts "boxed in." Which frankly, I do.

Good answer.

I don't know why I would be putting horses in boxes, but based on what the question says, I would have to say let two double up. After all, the problem doesn't restrict the sizes of the boxes.

good guess but no, come on people think about it!

Will think over night - put nine horses in nine boxs and let one go, come to think of it - let them all go, it's the way nature intended.

G'night

if you had nine boxes and you had to fit ten horses in them how would you do it?

:P

At first you put 2 horses in box 1, horse No 3 in box 2, horse 4 in box 3, horse 5 in box 4, ........, horse 9 in box 8. There remains box 9 empty, and you take one of the 2 horses (let's call it horse 10) from box 1 and put it there.

What about horse #10? :P
