Question

Here is a mathematical problem that has two correct and completeley diffrent solutions.

You must solve for both solutions. in each case were looking for fifteen of something (x)and one of the something (y)

that adds up to one of something else (z)

Example: 3x+2y=1z

3Quarts+2Pints= 1 gallon

15x

+ 1z

15 nickels

+ 1 quarter

= 1 dollar

15 penies

+ 1 dime

= 1 quarter

Yes but...

Can we really assume that a nickle is 1 unit, since it is really 5 cents or is .05 dollars and the same for dimes & quarters?

If so:

15 dimes

+ 1 50-cent piece

= 1 $2 bill

&&

15 $1 bills

+ 1 $5 bill

= 1 $20 bill

&&

15 Teaspoons

+ 1 Tablespoon

=1 double shot (3oz)

Are we talking units of measure or items??
