Hi all,

I thought of a unique solution...

By inverting 2 of the 4 - 7's

1 L7 L7

Ha Ha ! !

Very clever... Mind if I copy it?

not for nothin...if u turn two sevens upside down next to two sevens downside up it forms two slanted zeros...with a one in front of it = 1 L7 L7]...what do ya think?

( 7	* 7	) * 1 = 100

   (7)	(7)

That's two 7's, two 2's, and two 1's...not four 7's and one 1.

since the puzzle says 1 twice, u r allowed to use 2 ones

(7*7)+7+7+1 = 100

BTW, it's octal <!-- s:) --><!-- s:) -->

Yeah, I thought of 77/7/7 +1 base 8 = 100 and 77/1 + 7/7 = 100... which is the same thing in octal. Curse you computer science! :lol:

Ha Ha ! !

This was the first solution I thought of.

The second was the 177-77=100

this would work if you can have indicies (which is a mathmatical symbol)

7^2+7^2+(7/7)+1

works for me

(the ^2 is squared btw)

might have another here :D

7^3= 343

343/(1+7/7)^2=343/4=85.75

85.75+7+7= 100 to 1 d.p.

so...

(7^3)/(1+7/7)^2+7+7

=100 to 1 d.p.

but thats 7 sevens :(

Yes, real simple......... ( (7x7) + (7x7) ) + 1 = 100

100 - Back to the Number Puzzles

Using four sevens (7) and a one (1) create the number 100. Except (Edit: In addition to) the five numerals you can use the usual mathematical operations +, -, x, :, root and brackets ().

100 - solution

100 = 177-77 = (7+7)x(7+(1:7))

I do not know other solutions.

The number 100 already exists. I can't create it.

thanks for your "valuable" input ... based on previous warnings (you obviously ignored them) and the basic rules (especially on nit-picking) - your account has been suspended

7 x (7+7) + cubed root of (7+1) = 100

7 X 14 + cubed root of 8

98 + 2 = 100

wonderful!!

(7*(7+7)) = 98

+ root7 = 100.64...

- 1 = 99.64... = 100(3sf)

That doesn't work because you need exactly 100, not approximations. Good try though, I can't get one yet. lol :lol::lol:

I found a third solution:

(77/.77)^1=100

that is very funny...

and the answer:

1 divided by 7 plus 7 times 14

((1/7)+7)x(7+7)

Piece of cake

7 squared + 7 squared +1 +7/7=100

49+49+1+1=100

My answer is: (7²+1)((7+7)/7) = 100

(49+1)(14/2) = 100

50x2 = 100

I thought inverting the 7's was sheer genius
