Something you can not see, it appears

- This something is completely unseen

Something you can see, it disappears

:duh: if this is the right answer i can't believe i missed it before

would it be fire? Add me to... Something you can not see, it appears (gas is unseen but mixed with fire it appears) Something you can see, it disappears (physical object like wood thats seen the fire will consume) I can give life, (after forest fires new life grows since debris is removed) I can take it away. (it can also kill things)

Nice try, fire leaves ash,, this leaves nothing

All such good answers, but I can't say yes...

Perhaps I should give you a hint?

Figure out what thing can truly disappear when you add something to it.

The thing you add will fit into all the other parts of the riddle.

I will say if you add alchol to something liquid it would help it to evaporate with leaving a waters residue...but if you are more along the lines of science; nothing really disappears- it just changes forms...Is that what you need???

Ok this may be far fetched but...

Add me to...

Something you can not see, it appears

Something you can see, it disappears

I can give life,

I can take it away.

electricity? When added to the dark it allows you to see. When added too much it can blind you. It can be used to jolt someone to life or kill them.

This is a great guess, but I don't see how adding it can make something truly vanish.

Add <THIS> to <ITEM1>, <ITEM1> appears

Add <THIS> to <ITEM2>, <ITEM2> disappears

<THIS> can give life

<THIS> can take live away

In life, we are over <THIS>.

In death, <THIS> is over us.

what is <THIS>

and while you at it, what is

<ITEM1>

<ITEM2>

Dirt or earth?

Making something clear dirty makes it easy to see,

Covering it in dirt makes it disappear,

It can give life to plants,

Mudslides and such can kill,

We live on top of it,

We're buried under it.

Correct, but I will add to your answer, in red

Dirt or earth?

Making something clear dirty makes it easy to see,

Wind, you cannot see it, but if you add dirt, you can see it.

Covering it in dirt makes it disappear,

add dirt to a hole, it disappears.

It can give life to plants,

Plants grow in dirt.

Mudslides and such can kill,

Avalanches, are what I was thinking, but OK.

We live on top of it,

We're buried under it.

Not so hard, but that last hint made it WAY to easy.

Well, those dirt pie things are quite delicious, with the gummi worms and such. Mmmm... Haven't had one of those in years. Yeah, the hint was a big one, but we were getting nowhere fast.
