In the year 1926.. An intelligent young man was just reading the local newspaper..

After reading the headline of the newspaper.. He was so suprised , that he actually panicked..

"A legendary marine , hero from World War I , who has been loyal to this country for many years dies in a car crash under mysterious circumstances.."

What makes the young man so suprised from that headline?

@busymom
no... I think swapnil is using the combination of 50 7 7..
u cannot use the combination of 50 49 1 because if u use that combination.. Kate would have gotten the answer before the professor gave him any clue..
since Kate is confused.. we can tell that her age is 64 years old..
since there are two combinations that is confusing Kate.. and that is 50 7 7 and 49 10 5
if we use the combination 49 10 5
the professor would have to be 48 years old or less.. which both the combination 50 7 7 and 49 10 5 would be correct.. Thus the statement of the professor that it can be solved would be wrong...
so the combination have to be 50 7 7
which means that the professor has to be 49 years old or less.. and again.. he cannot be 48 years old or less.. which suggest that the profesor has to be.. 49 years old.

I think u got a few things wrong there..
First.. the last clue-2 years ago , my wife & I celebrated the anniversary of our 25th year of marriage... means 27 years of marriage..
if u count it like that.. u re counting the fist moment they got married as a 1 year marriage..
Second.. Even if they are married for 28 years.. it is not necessarily for them to get their "first" child in the first year of marriage...
And it is not even said that it is their "first" child.. it could even be their fifth child or seventh.. doesn't matter..
I think the point of that clue is that to tell us that the 27 year old and the 30 years old cannot be their child.. since they re married for only 27 years..
As for the rest.. It's a little too long.. and quite lazy to type...

oops.. i think i got the wrong id here..
i was actually comparing my answer to brix's..
since our answers has nothing in common.. except for the water of course..
and about your matrix.. u can still relate one another and get a smaller range of results..
maybe even get the same answers as mine...

Anyways, i was hoping for wolfgang to tell us who got the correct answer though..

whether it meets the requirements of a sentence or not
the only point of this riddle is only to show that our brain doesn't process the "of's"
after all this is in the "New Logic/Math Puzzles " topic.. not the "New Word Riddles" topic
