what happened to mr. snowman?

When I was younger living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I loved makin snowmen.
I would make a snowman at the beginning of winter.
But at the end of the year, snowman would be gone.
No one touched snowman after he was made, and he didn't melt.
So what happened to mr. snowman?

In Minneapolis you'd almost believe it...
But no.
It's not that I couldn't see snowman, it's that he was actually gone.
I'll post the answer in a little bit if no one gets it.

I've got to agree with Linzd. Whats the scientific name for matter going directly from solid to vapor? I learned that about 25 years ago in high school, any help?
