Woe betide the bowman’s fate,
A lesson learned, the task to state.
From pole to pole a story told,
A mournful trek through mist and cold
Of one cross born among the dead,
For hope it served, from ice it led
Until his point had made its mark
And spirits pined for vengeance dark.

Now, Purgatory may exist
Above our hell . . . this hall is his.
And casting pall on night of cheer,
One is given the lessoned fear.
