Professor, Angel, and the Fly.
Three in one on three below,
“To the Sea!” the sailors go.
A sturdy ship to Virgin Isle,
Best in fleet for great the mile.
High on mast where eagle nests
“To the Sea!” these sailors best.
One mast, two mast, three mast down
In ocean’s depth three masts drown.
“What a wondrous desolation!”
This the sailor’s answered question.

You could easily replace "sailor" with "crewmen" and/or "shipmate", I believe. I'm sure Shakee used "sailor" metaphorically, just to try throw us off the trail. Guess we'll see on Monday?
Aha. One of them was a sailor.

Well done Iconoclast. Correct answer but just a tiny bit off on the analysis.
