Question

How many things are wrong with the following story:

I will tell you a story i know nothing about. Pay at the gate, admision is free. Pull up a chair and sit on the floor. 2 guys back to back facing each other. It was a bright day at midnight. They drew their swords and shot each other. a faint echo heard by the deaf guy. if you do not beleive my story is true, ask the blind guy he saw it too.

well i'm thinking this is a trick question so i will highlight them.

It's a series of contradictions:

telling a story you don't know

pay at the gate / admission is free

pull up a chair / sit on the floor

back to back / facing each other

bright day / midnight

swords / shot each other

echo heard by a deaf man

the blind guy saw it

This isn't mine, but the source I got it from is anonymous. Sorry about that! I just thought that it was totally cool. He/She also added:

"Okay, you totally did it wrong. It's a lymrick; not just some story you can randomly tell. It's basically a test to see how fast you can talk and still have others understand what you're saying. "

One fine day in the middle of the night

Two dead men got up to fight

They turned back to back and faced each other

Pulled out their swords and shot one another

A deaf policeman heard the noise, and came to riot up the boys

And if you don't believe my lies are true

Ask the blind man; he saw it, too

Actually, this is not a limerick...merely an amusing work of poetry. Anyhow...here is the version I grew up learning...with one small change:

One fine day in the middle of the night

Two dead men got up to fight

They turned back to back and faced each other

Pulled out their swords and shot one another

A deaf policeman heard the noise, came and shot those two dead boys

And if you don't believe my lies are true

Ask the blind man; he saw it, too
