However, if you pass another person AT THE SAME TIME, and that person is first, AND you are on the same lap as both second AND first, this fourth answer is correct.
And there you have it.

It's not the expression OVERTAKE,it's just how people think about it...everybody I asked this first said 1ST,then thought about it for 5 secs, then said 2ND.
2nd place, though many people confuse the meaning of overtake and say that you're in 1st.

My God,you really gave a HUGE thought about it,huh?
There are three diffrent answers, depending on the lap you are on and the lap the person in second place before you overtake him or her is on.Spoiler for Answer 1: On the same lapYou end up in second place, with the person you just overtook now in third place.Spoiler for Answer 2: You are on a higher lap than the person in second placeYou stay in first place, even though you have lapped second place.Spoiler for Answer 3: You are behind on laps compared to the person in second placeYou stay in the posision you were in, but you have undone a lapping. Therefore, if you was last, you stay in last, and if you was in fourth place, you would still be in fourth place.
However, if you pass another person AT THE SAME TIME, and that person is first, AND you are on the same lap as both second AND first, this fourth answer is correct.Spoiler for Answer 4You are now in first place, having gained two places.
And there you have it.
