Question

Ok, I am going to give a number of sequences. Your job is to not find the next numbers in any of these sequences, but to actually find the next sequence. Sequences with a ... indicate it is infinite and continuing in the obvious pattern. Sequence without a ... indicate it is finite as written. The word infinity indicates that that is the "number" in the sequence.

Sequence A: 1, infinity

Sequence B: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, ...

Sequence C: 1, 1, infinity

Sequence D: 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, ....

Sequence E: 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, ...

Sequence F: 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, ....

Sequence G: 2, 1, infinity

Sequence H: 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, ...

Sequence I: 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, ...

Now, what is sequence J? I'm guessing many people will be close, but few will get it right.

3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, ...

I could keep going, and every day I'll add on one or more sequences until someone solves this. What is the pattern of these sequences?

No hints now; in a day or two I'll let you know the next sequence that has an infinity in it, which may help.

By the way, this does NOT end at Sequence Z ... I just used letters so that we weren't getting confused with numbers and letters. We'll call the 27th sequence: Sequence AA; we'll call the 28th sequence: Sequence AB.

Sequence J: 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, ...

Sequence K: 3, 2, 3, 2, 3, 2, ...

Sequence L: 3, 2, infinity

Sequence J: 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, ...

Sequence K: 3, 2, 3, 2, 3, 2, ...

Sequence L: 3, 2, infinity

Sequence M: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, ...

Sort of. There is a sequence not too far ahead that alternates like your K and there is a sequence immediately after that one that infinity is the 3rd term and there is a sequence immediately after that one where there is the same number over and over.

BUT, that is not sequences K, L, and M. If I tell you which sequences those are, it may be too much of a hint too soon.

This is what I think... (firstly I didn't get sequence J right as I didn't read the others properly, but this is what I feel is next..)

Sequence K: 3,1,infinity

Sequence L: 4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4.......

sequence M: 4,3,3,3,3,3,3.......

Sequence N: 4,2,2,4,2,2,4,2,2......

Sequence O: 4,1,1,1,1,1.....

Sequence P: 4,1,1,1,4,1,1,1,4,1,1,1......(not sure if this one should be here)

Sequence Q: 4,1,infinity

And so on. I think how it goes: firstly a row of same numbers, then that number and the rest a row of same nubers, but the nuber afetr e.g. 4 = same number, then a row of 3's. Next sequence is alternating with the same number e.g. 4, and then the nuber after the nuber shown last e.g.last time it was a rown of 3's so this time it is 2's, and the number of times it is shown is all down to starter number e.g.4 -(minus) the other number e.g. in this case two and thats the number of times it's shown, in this case 2 times so 4,2,2..... . Then if it hasn't reached one (not sure if it just has to be one of one alternating) then I think you have to go through these steps again so you reach 4,1,1,1,1,1..... . Now I'm not sure, but I think it must be alternating befor infinity, so I think it then must be 4 with 3 1's (4-1=3) so it is 4,1,1,1,4,1,1,1..... so if I have a crack at the next lot it would be:

Sequence R: 5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5......

Sequence S: 5,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,.....

Sequence T: 5,3,3,5,3,3,5,3,3,5,3,3.....

Sequence U: 5,2,2,2,2,2,2,2 .......

Sequence V: 5,1,1,1,1,5,1,1,1,1...... (now because it's alternating with 1's the I think it will be....)

Sequence W: 5,1,infinity

Ok, these three sequences ARE correct somewhere, and do occur in a row but NOT for sequence K, L and M. There are a number missing before these come up (and I'm not posting them yet).

Sequence N: 4,2,2,4,2,2,4,2,2......

Sequence O: 4,1,1,1,1,1.....

Sequence P: 4,1,1,1,4,1,1,1,4,1,1,1......(not sure if this one should be here)

Sequence Q: 4,1,infinity

There is NOT a sequence exactly like your guesses for N or P.

There IS a sequence exactly like your guesses for O, but not at O, but significantly later.

There IS a sequence exactly like your guess for Q, but again, significantly later.

LOTS of terms in the middle missing. I'll have to post more soon. Take a look at the next post.

Sequence R: 5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5......

Sequence S: 5,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,.....

Sequence T: 5,3,3,5,3,3,5,3,3,5,3,3.....

Sequence U: 5,2,2,2,2,2,2,2 .......

Sequence V: 5,1,1,1,1,5,1,1,1,1...... (now because it's alternating with 1's the I think it will be....)

Sequence W: 5,1,infinity

Again, Sequence R and S are correct at SOME point in time WELL later in the sequence. Sequence T is not, and I'm choosing not to look up U and V as if they do exist, they are not contiguous nor anytime until wau deep into this sequence.

Sequence W does occur, WAY later in the sequence.

Sequence O: 3, 1, infinity

Sequence P: 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, ...

Sequence Q: 4, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, ...

Sequence R: 4, 2, 1, 1, 1, 4, 2, 1, 1, 1, 4, 2, 1, 1, 1, ...

Have fun! There is a definite pattern to all of this, although the derivation will only seem obvious once you pick up on the one big issue with these sequences.
