Question

I'm going to give an additional paragraph to the riddle after any wrong answer. If anyone gets this one quickly, I'll be sad.

------------------------------

Who am I????

I'm certainly not unusual

Although I am unique

I stretch forever endlessly

Which adds to my mystique.

Stretch my ends out if you can

And stomp down on my middle

If you do, it's time for tea

And you can solve this riddle.

....

More coming if needed.

PI

Sorry, not correct. Pi is EXTREMELY unusual. And how could you stomp down on the middle of pi? And why would it be time for tea? :D

Here's another paragraph:

Even though my length is infinite

My "weight" is only one

My height varies depending on what I am

But it never equals none.

cosine wave

Not a bad guess ... doesn't fit everything, although it does fit the whole "infinite" part.

Here's a couple of more paragraphs!

It's critical you listen to

The inflection in what I say

The point of this is to let you know

It's a standard one away.

What's away? Away from what?

The answer I won't say

Or maybe I have; or maybe I will

I'm mean (I guess) today.

mole or deviation?

Ah, you're on the track with what my last clues were about, but not putting all the paragraphs together into Who I Am.

More paragraphs!

I have three favorite numbers

And my favorite letter is "Z"

My favorite ENGLISH letter that is

There's two Greek letters for me.

Which Greek letters? Don't have a cow!

I don't have to tell you!

Add it up, and lower expectations,

I've given you enough clues!

A clock...

-Time stretches forever.

-The middle is noon tea.

-Infinite length of time.

-A "wait" in increments of '1'.

-Height varies (grandfather, watch, Big Ben).

-Standard one away from the next increment of time.

-Three numbers on a clock (I, V, X) make up 1-12.

-Two Greek letters representing time, Alpha-Omega.

I just don't get the "Z" part.

WOW! Not correct, but what a way to fit the clues in an unexpected way! Impressive thinking!

Couple of things you missed besides the "Z" clue though.

--Topic said this is a math riddle. It is a mathematical topic, not obscure by itself, but some of my clues to it are unless you know the topic well.

--How do you stretch time's ends and stomp down on its middle?

--Didn't recognize/utilize the key words of "critical", "inflection" and "point"

--Couple other minor things (I used the phrase "Don't have a cow" for a reason, although a VERY obscure one)

FINAL PARAGRAPHS TO THE RIDDLE

No one's ever called me a liar

Even though I'm never straight

I won't say all my favorite numbers

But one of them's sixty-eight.

Haven't figured it out yet?

Does none of this ring a bell?

You're just strange! But I'm not!

And with that I bid farewell.

Lol, I missed the math part completely.

I was thinking that if you stretch out time (24hrs in a day) then the middle would be noon... time for tea (in Britain)

yeah, I missed all the key words... I'll think math next time.

but I doubt anyone that doesn't get it immediately would without looking on google like I did...

the 68-95-99.7 rule

So, so, so SOOOOOO close.

Your response is directly related to the answer, and that "rule" is only used for the answer. The answer mathematically fits all clues, and verbally fits some of the word choices.

a normal distribution?

We have a winner!!!!!

Hopefully, this answer explains why "I'm certainly not unusual" AND "You're just strange! But I'm not!"

If anyone is interested why any of the clues points to this from a mathematical standpoint, feel free to post or PM.

I meant to put " for making bell curves" but it seems I lost my train of thought while typing it. LOL
