Question

On a shelf there are ten books. Each one has one hundred pages.

How may pages are between the first page of the first book and the last page of the last book, both included?

800 pages if you don't count covers as pages and you assume that the books are on the self, stacked as they are in a library and that, we also assume that the first book is the book is the book on the left, that it is standing up, as is the last book, which is at the far right end of the books.

it's 802 if by included you mean that the first page and the last page should be considered as between themselves.

10*100=1000 (inside)

2*10 = 20 (cover)

Num. of pages b/n 1st page of the first book and the last page of the last book = 1000+20-2 = 1018

I don't think covers are considered pages.

And u2il2, I understand your "assuming"s but not your answer.

1000 if you are including the first and last page as being between themselves.

Your second answer is correct.

With "both included" I did mean that the first and last pages were both part of the count.
