Question

How well do you know the state capitals of the United States?

For all questions, ignore issues of capital letters vs. lower case letters.

1) There are 3 letters that do not appear in ANY state capitals name. Q and Z are obvious, but the last one is not considering it is in many of states' names. Think hard, do NOT look it up, and see if you can figure out the only other letter that doesn't appear in any of the 50 state capitals. There is no trick to this.

2) For a much easier question, what is the only letter that appears only once in all 50 state capitals' names.

3) For an even easier question, what is the letter that appears only 3 times, with 3 state capitals beginning with the letter, and never appearing in the middle of any state capital's name.

PCHANDS WRITES:

1 U?

2 A?

3 M?

1. No, u is pretty rare, but Juneau (the capital of Alaska) has 2 by itself. I believe there are 8 u's in all 50 state capital names.

2. No, a is actually one of the most common letters. Sacramento, CA has 2 by itself.

3. No, m occurs in the middle of some capitals names, like SacrMemto, CA.

Wait... so what capital doesn't have an A in it? that was the question number two was asking right?

Spoiler for "I Know":

1. X

-------------------------------------------------------

X is the correct answer to #2 (Phoenix).

Sorry, but X is not the correct answer to #1.

1.W

2.X

3.H

Number 1 and 2 are correct!!!!

However, h is not correct for number 3. There are plenty of h's, including in the middle of state capital names, like Talahassee and Oklahoma City.
