Question

"A guy I know" has a 16 year old daughter that is taking a driver training class. In the class they are learning everything about the rules and regulations about how to drive, like the meaning of different road signs, how to park up a hill, down a hill and all kinds of great stuff. The book is around 300 pages. Towards the back it talks about driving under the influence and blood alcohol levels. The state has a BAL tolerance to .100 for DUI. A chart similar to this is given as a reference to how many drinks an individual can have for their weight.

# of Drinks

-_________1_____2_____3_____4_____5_____6__

100 lbs / 0.038 / 0.075 / 0.113 / 0.150 / 0.188 / 0.225

125 lbs / 0.031 / 0.063 / 0.094 / 0.125 / 0.156 / 0.188

150 lbs / 0.025 / 0.050 / 0.075 / 0.010 / 0.013 / 0.015

175 lbs / 0.022 / 0.045 / 0.066 / 0.088 / 0.110 / 0.132

200 lbs / 0.019 / 0.038 / 0.056 / 0.075 / 0.094 / 0.113

225 lbs / 0.017 / 0.034 / 0.051 / 0.068 / 0.085 / 0.102

a) She would most likely say 2-3 drinks, based on the table

b) 0 Drinks, because she is too young to legally drink (in the U.S.)

c) The teen would be looking for the book answer, and wanting to see what she could do, the GuyIKnow would pay attention to the fact that his daughter shouldn't drink.

Don't drink and drive, you might spill

This question was actually on my driver's permit test. It was worded "What is the legal BAC for you?"

Alot of people got it wrong because they didn't read "for you".

"how many drinks she can have before she can legally drive a vehicle."

I'm assuming that you meant "cannot legally drive a vehicle"

And assuming you're in the U.S. then none!

she would answer 3-4 drinks until over the limit.

You would say 0

She can't drive legally with any BAC

In some states it is even worse. I live in a no tolerance state she can't even get caught walking down the street with even a little bit of a bac without getting her permit revoked!
