Russian nested dolls set are all facing you.

Smallest to biggest they are ABCDEFGH

but some are inside the bigger dolls. If :

A has 3 dolls bigger on its left side

D has 2 dolls smaller on its left side

G has 1 doll  bigger on its right side

H has 2 dolls smaller on its right side

F has 1  doll  bigger on its left side

B has 1 doll   smaller on its left side

C has 4 dolls bigger on its right side

E has 3 dolls smaller on its right side

 

Can you tell how they are arranged?

Thanks, this is a lot clearer than the last one. Just to be sure, if X is inside Y, I believe Y would be reported as neither to X's left nor to X's right. Is this correct?

This linear arrangement works without placing any dolls inside any others. However, some neighboring dolls can be combined without breaking the conditions of the OP (for example B could be inside D and A could be inside F).

DB can be nested, HF can be nested, even HFA can be nested. And maybe there are more possibilities. I'm still assuming that an enclosing doll is neither left nor right of an enclosed doll.

yes CaptainEd... if X is inside Y, Y would be reported as neither to X's left nor to X's right.

 

Right K-man.. the puzzle lacks restriction for more unique arrangements. Like "4  dolls is visible". Still easy but fun.

 

What i think hard is computing the posible number of arrangements.
