A man has committed suicide in the desert by hanging himself via a rope and noose from a large cactus.

The spikes on the cactus were so ermm spikey that it was impossible to climb yet, with no other visible signs of help around, the rope was knotted to a branch and the man was now dead, suspended off the dry barren ground.

The vehicle which he drove out in was parked breaks on and doors locked 10 meters away so could not have been used for climbing on.

No one had assisted the man in his suicide so how had he done it?

he tied the rope to the cactus when he was standing on the sand dune and waited till all the sand from beneath his feet was blown away by the air and was hanged

He threw one end of the rope up over the branch of the cactus while the other was tied around his neck. Then he pulled himself up, and tied off.

The rope was of the hemp variety and he soaked it in water, threw it up and over, and tied it tightly. Then as the sun dried out the rope, it grew taut enough to hang himself.

He pulled the truck up to the cactus, tied the noose, then drove the truck 10meters away and parked it.
He walked back to the noose, jumped up, pulled himself in, then tightened it (they are slip knots).

the use of ladders, chairs,...etc was not specified so

he hung himself using the car and put it on neutral, the car was on a slope so it went away, then something heavy knocked the shift gear on park 10 metres away.

he had a horse or camel with him along with the car, by the time everyone got there, the animal had already left. (Depending on how fresh the suicide was you coud still see the tracks.)
