A doctor practicing in a reputed hospital falls madly in love with a nurse.After two years,they marry in a grandiose manner.A child is born to them after a period of time.The catch in the tale is that the doctor is not the father of the child.What is the ONLY possible solution?

While I prefer riddles with ONLY one possible solution, I find that is rarely the case. While the official answer may be the most reasonable, other answers would include rape, artificial insemination, or alternate lifestyles that don't put a premium on monogamy.

Check the OP; it says the child was born to them [born to the the doctor and the nurse.]
