Having a person who has died rejoin the game typically won't work.

If their role wasn't revealed when they died, then they know someting no one else knows (what the role was that died). In addition to any information gained as a part of being that role.

If their role WAS revealed when they died, then like you said it would have to be the same faction, however then everyone would know their faction. Unfortunately once you're dead in a mafia game coming back in poses all kinds of issues.

Well, I thought about that, and maybe the person could be an anonymous backup and PM the host, and the host do it for him? Problem with that is that the host would have to be really really active.
EDIT: Or maybe PM another BrainDenizen who's not involved in the mafia to post it for them?

Honestly if you do that I probably won't play... it makes things way to confusing and convoluted .

It's not a bad idea, in fact I had it myself lol... just not practical

Maybe a week before the game starts we could have a backup signup period. And maybe the baddies would be so kind as to kill off the inactives?

I still don't think that'll work out Wouldn't the person who had died and is coming back still have a whole lot of extra info with him from his previous role? Even an action as not info-receiving as blocking can potentially give the person a benefit.

I completely agree with Glyc on this... Dead players should stay dead.

And 'Cat'astrophe, if you like figuring things out logically (which if you are on BD I'm assuming you do) then you would love Mafia. You should play!

I'm thinking that if you don't vote or post during the day, you are marked inactive. I say day rather than night because some roles don't have night actions, or even actions at all! (Black, White and Flashlight.)
