A slight variation on this one is this :
Bob and Tom go out and play in the garden.
After a while their mother calls for them to go to bed.
Bob's face is very dirty, wheras Tom's managed to play without dirtying himself.
However Tom goes to wash and Bob goes straight to bed. They are both as aware about hygene and usually behave the same way in a given situation.
Why does the clean boy go and wash and the dirty one ignore his muddy face?
tom sees bobs face and thinks he is dirty.
bob sees tom's face and thinks he is clean.

Cute! But why do they have to be twins? The boys are twins. Tom thinks his face ia as dirty as BOb's, nad Bob thinks his face is as clean as Tom's.

A traveler arrives in a small town and decides he wants to get a haircut. There are only two barbershops in town - one on East Street and one on West Street. The East Street barbershop is a mess, and the barber has the worst haircut the traveler has ever seen. The West Street barbershop is neat and clean, its barber's hair looks as good as a movie star's.

The barber in the east is the one with the worst haircut the traveler has ever seen, yet the "west" one says "its barber hair looks as good as a movie star's" but it doesnt really specify that the traveler saw it. In order for traveler to have "Seen" it, he had to be there.

But the Bob and Tom one is slightly stupid as it assumes they don't know about the existence of mirrors.

The clean/messy aspect of this question is obviously a red herring. But I'd rather get a not-very-good haircut at a clean barber shop than get a good haircut at a filthy one.
