Origin unclear, up for debate.

Romans started it some might say.

Not what I think, nope not at all.

England or France with Pall-Mall?

Some think Persia or Netherlands.

Not really sure on How it began.

Another theory, up on the blocks,

Shepherds with staffs & some rocks.

Regardless of History that is told,

The first host of this is called Old.

EDIT: Both of the last two I wrote have been solved by friends I'm watching football with.
